Lizzo was a member of a prog-rock group, in which she sang and played the flute. Her family had relocated to Denver which left Lizzo with her own needs to begin her career in Houston. Lizzo was a car owner and sometimes slept on the floor of her studio. She also made use of the gym for showers at the gym. Lizzo lost her father at twenty years old. They were close, and it was a heartbreaking loss. She quit the group in 2010, after her father's passing. Following a brief stint in Denver in the year 2010, Lizzo moved to Minneapolis upon the request of a friend in 2011. Lizzo soon was in the middle of the music scene. She was part of the girls' groups Chalice and GRRRL PRTY. Her first album, Lizzobangers, came out in 2013 through an independent label.
